Bike To Work Challenge

May is Bike to Work Month!  Sign up for the Trans Options Bike to Work Challenge and Ride to work as much as you can in May.  Log your miles and win prizes for miles ridden to work.  

Prize categories include:

  • Most Miles Biked (weekly)
  • Champion Challenger 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes
  • Team Challenge
  • Resolute Rider

Commuter Challenge Race - May 9

Please join Marty’s Reliable Cycle and TransOptions the morning of Wednesday May 9 for a race where
everyone wins! Bikes will challenge cars and mass transit in this second annual commuter challenge
event. In this race there are no losers, and this year members of the public can join in. The modes of
transportation will include:

  • Two road bicycles ridden by Marty Epstein, owner of Marty’s Reliable Cycle, and Bill Ruddick, executive director of Gran Fondo NJ.
  • An electric bicycle operated by Eric Noonan, service manager at Marty’s Reliable Cycle.
  • New Jersey Transit Train and a Dahon Folding Bike used by Matthew Vance, a Morristow attorney
  • New Jersey Transit Train and a road bicycle being stored in a NJ Transit Bike Locker
  • Prius Plug-In electric automobile supplied by Toyota of Morristown

The event is set for Wednesday May 9, kicking off at Drip Coffee at 34 Main Street, Madison, NJ.
Participants, the press and the public will gather between 8 and 8:30 a.m. The race will commence at
8:40 a.m. Transit riders will utilize the Madison Train Station, taking the 8:49 a.m. train, which arrives in
Morristown at 8:57 a.m. All participants will be heading for the finish line, located at the front door of
the Hyatt Morristown on Speedwell Avenue in Morristown.

The commuter challenge is being organized by Marty’s Reliable Cycle and TransOptions to promote and
highlight alternative transportation options. To join the commuter race with an alternative mode of your

Free Breakfast for Bicycle Commuters - Friday, May 18th - 6:30 - 8:30 am

Marty's will be hosting a free continental breakfast at our store in Morristown for riders on their way to work.  Stop by the shop (on your bicycle) for the free grub.  Anyone commuting on a bicycle is welcome!
