William's Lake
William's Lake
Well, racing fans, Williams' Lake was once again a tough race to finish. Last year each and every racer was praying for sunshine (as we rode in what seemed to be a foot of mud ) and the Guy upstairs sure did give us sunshine this year. Be careful what you ask for!! It was HOT and HUMID! Three laps finishing at high noon left me feeling like jumping straight into Williams' Lake, that's for sure!! There was a moment, after beginning my third lap, that I truly contemplated whether the last lap was easier or worse than team heckling for getting a DNF. I choose to do the lap. The single track was tight; the climbs were unforgiving; the downs were exhilarating. Oh, and did anyone mention how awesome the caves were? They were like air-conditioned bike trails!! Can we talk Marty into some air conditioners for the race course next year?! Just some food for thought!! Jennel "If I had to do it again I would choose gears (I raced the single speed class), between the climbing and the 100 degree weather I thought I was going to die. Only thing worse was waiting over 2 hours for the results. All and all I had a lousy day which was reflected with my last place finish (not including the DNFs). The only highlight of the day was the announcer messing up yookin’s (Joaquin) name for the second straight year".
