Simon's Longest Day 2008

Here are a few photos of my recently completed “Longest Day” bike ride which I completed this weekend from Port Jervis in the north western corner of New Jersey down to Cape May in the south east a total mileage of 208 miles in one day. Fortunately the temperatures soared into the nineties just to make sure this would be a day to remember.

Thanks to Breffni my SAG without whom I would be vulture fodder at the side of the road in the Pine Barrens (a dull featureless part of the ride which went on for ever).

Photo 3687 taken during the first Century “still fresh” on my new trek from Martys!

Photo 3701 going through the Pine Barrens during the second Century somewhat delirious probably not even aware that I was overtaking some fellow riders (I am now in a green jersey)

Photo 3711 a few miles from the end totally dehydrated, exhausted, not even sure why I was lying down at the side of the road. At this point Breffni offered the kiss of life which frightened me enough to get back on the bike and get to the end!

Thanks to Martys of Randolph for all of their support leading up to this event.
