I added the Trek District S to my stable of bikes about 7 months ago. Do not regret my purchase one bit. This is a very fun bike to ride! Very enjoyable for tooling around the neighborhood, and errands. Rides up to 20 miles on this. You may eventually like to take off the chain guard as it does jingle on bumps (I did). I also upgraded the pedals (VP-001) and freewheel (White Ind ENO). Stock 44/17 gear is perfect. Other than that, really no need to upgrade. Crank is multi-piece aluminum, nicely machined with decent crank arms. Rims and hubs seem well build on smooth bearings. Brakes are very nice, dual pivot, strong with good modulation. Cockpit is not brand-name, but very functional, tires are great. Seat is perfect for this type of riding. Buy it, have fun!
Great all round SS setup. Very economical. I often grab this bike and leave my Salsa and Litespeed rockets in the garage. My favorite bike ever, right up with my Trek 69er. Low price for lots of fun.
I bought this bike about 2 months ago, its low profile color and simplicity is what makes this bike great. I ride to school and work 7 days a week, day and night, wether its raining or really cold, well anyways, this bike get the job done from getting to point a to b in urban environments. Its low maintainence is great, all I need to do is give it a simple wipe down. On the other side it is extremely quiet, even when you're pedaling you dont hear a thing. From previous reviews, people say that the chainguard is a bit noisy when it hits bumps but, it's not unless you build it right, it will stay in place and not make any noise whatsoever. This bike's ability to respond quickly is what I love, I love beating the bus to the other light. Also if you occasionaly use the bus or any bike friendly bike transportation this bike is so light that you can place it on the rack with no trouble.
