Schooley's Mountain Challenge
Sunday, November 19th
The Schooleys Mountain Challenge is a mountain bike only ride starting from our Morristown Shop along Patriot's Path to the very tippy top of the legendary Schooleys mountain. The route is quite challenging and please note that this is not a rail trail ride like our Marty's Fat 50. This trail goes across much of Morris County and incorporates a significant amount of gained elevation (exact figures soon) along with very rocky and technical terrain in some sections and simple and easy rail trail in other sections.
The course is an out and back adventure ride with an emphasis on adventure and not on racing. It is not for the faint of heart, and super fast racers will enjoy it just as much as newer riders looking to challenge themselves. The fact that it is an out and back ride means that even if you make an attempt at the challenge and fall short, you can always just turn around and head back early.
The ride is self supported, but we will have a rest stop with water and energy food at the halfway point at the top of Schooleys with maybe a cup of coco or something nice like that.
Our training rides will start this Sunday September 24th at 9:45am. The training rides will start off with riding half the course and back. After a few weeks we will start from the mid-way point, ride to the end, and back again. This way folks will be familiar with the course and get into great shape at the same time.
Course map and gps files coming soon!
