Seven Springs Downhill

Seven Springs

Race Recap

Joaquin, Jennel, and Nick ventured out to the Seven Springs resort outside Pittsburgh, PA for the 2nd stop of the Gravity East Series. The event took place on June 13th, a weekend that was suppose to mared by rain and mud.

Luckily, the rains came overnight and in small doses so the mud tires stayed in the car. Saturday was a day full of practice runs and walking the course. After a short lift ride, the course started on a gravel road making its way into the woods to 3 tabletop jumps. After the jumps racers were faced with a fast flowing section full of bermed turns and smaller jumps. The course moved out of the woods and made its way to the first difficult section of the course, a steep downhill drop directly under the lift. The run out of the drop lead right into the 2nd and last difficult section, the rock garden. Some overnight rain made the course very tacky and fast, but made the rock garden a bit slick. Once thru this section, which many racers fell in (including Nick...hard) racers made the last few turns, hit 2 more tabletops and their run was over.

Before and after the race, beers were enjoyed by all. The crew decided to try and race down the mountain on the mountain slides. Small wheeled carts that ride what appears to be a track similar to those at a waterpark. Good times.

Check out a fun video taken at the event. The footage of the rock garden is great. Look closely about 3:30 in and you may just see a Marty's rider hitting the deck hard. Should not have drank 4 beers prior to the race run. Rookie move.
